ORGANISATIONS

Below, you can see which professional organisations - both national and international - I joined, how long my membership or association lasted and how I contributed to the work of those organisations. Unlike the WORK RECORD, this tab page specifies the predominantly non-commercial associations, unions, alliances etc., to which statuary aims I contributed on a non-paid basis. I have translated all their names into English, but the logos are in original languages.

Starting with current engagements:

The World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure, PIANC

  • association and membership since 2001, continues

  • articles in PIANC magazines, conference papers, reviews, selection committees etc.

International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering, IABSE

  • association and membership since 2005, continues

  • membership and contributions to the work of 2 Technical Committees

  • articles in Structural Engineering International, conference papers, reviews of work by others.

Foundation for Historical Locks and Weirs in the Netherlands, HSSN

  • association since 2008, continues and due to intensify after my retirement

  • participation in meetings, discussions etc., other contributions planned

  • presentations, contributions to sessions, "National Steel Construction Days" etc.

Maritime and Geotechnical Engineering (IMiG) and other technical magazines in Poland

  • association since 1998, continues

  • member of editoriar board (IMiG), author of articles, reviewer of books and papers

  • reward for best paper in 2002 by "Civil Engineering & Constructing" (Inżynieria i Budownictwo)

International Association for Bridge Maintenance and Safety IABMAS

  • associated since 2007

  • conference presentations and papers, discussions in related groups

  • exchange of know-how on bridge construction and maintenance

Elsevier Science Direct, Ernst & Sohn Verlag and some other international publishing companies

  • associated since 2000, continues

  • two books and a number of scientific articles in "Stahlbau", "Bautechnik" and other magazines

  • reviews of manuscripts on behalf of "Elsevier Construction & Building Materials" and other magazines.

Foundation for Applied Research in Water Management, STOWA

  • associated since 2008, continues

  • occasional contributions in discussions and meetings, usually in cooperation with HSSN

  • intended intensification after retirement.

Foundation for Post-academic Technical Education (PATO) and other educational institutions

  • associated since 2000, continues

  • lectures on movable hydraulic steel structures, recommendations, hand-outs

  • lectures on composite materials in infrastructure.

Composite Bridge Alliance Europe (COBRAE), lately disbanded

  • associated since 2000

  • attendance to conferences, presentations, papers, lobbying for composite applications in infrastructure

  • organisation of workshops, educative sessions etc. for the employees of Rijkswaterstaat.

European Pultrusion Technology Association (EPTA)

  • associated since 2000

  • presentations and papers on seminars and conferences, lobbying for pultrusion technology application

  • author of assessment method in regard of environmental impact.

Polish Association of Civil Engineers and Technicians (PZITB)

  • member since 1973, after 1981 associate

  • presentations and papers on conferences, articles in the Association press, exchange of know-how

  • diverse rewards, e.g. Prof Brzozowski reward in 1974.

Union of Steel Industry Workers in Poland (ZZH)

  • member from 1974 till 1979

  • Secretary of a local Union department in the Steel Plant "Huta Warszawa" in Warsaw

  • trade union activities, care for good work conditions and social concerns of the steel plant workers.

Union of Polish Teachers (ZNP)

  • member from 1973 till 1974

  • regular trade union membership activities

  • no board positions within the union.
